Today is Shrove Tuesday, a day also known by the name, ‘Pancake
Tuesday’. Shrove Tuesday is the
day before the start of Lent and a time traditionally that people would consume
any ‘rich’ foods (ie. pancakes with toppings of tasty whipped cream, sweet
strawberries that are dripping with yummy syrup, etc.) so that during the
Lenten period, only basic meals would be eaten.
God of Mercy,
Grant that we may know your compassion
and may we rejoice in your forgiveness.
Help us to prepare for Lent by forgiving
and using the season of Lent to change things
so we can love you and others more deeply.
Bless us on our Lenten journey.
Through Christ our Lord.

Saskatchewan Grade 12 students and recent high school graduates (within the last two years) have the chance to win a grand-prize scholarship of $4,000 or one of three runner-up scholarships of $2,000 when they submit a three-minute video or 1,000-word essay on transparency. This year’s scholarship theme encourages youths to explore their idea of transparency in agriculture and how it affects public perception of the industry. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be planning to take an agriculture-related post-secondary education program beginning in the fall of 2022. This scholarship program has been designed to identify young people who are planning to pursue a career in the agriculture industry. The deadline to apply is March 1, 2022.
