On Wednesday, we start Lent by observing Ash Wednesday. Often in Lent, we give up something we enjoy. This giving up of something allows us to experience sacrifice. Sacrifice allows us to make more room for God in our lives, so that we can live as He wants us to live. This sacrifice also reminds us of the great sacrifice Jesus gave us - his life (out of love for us) - so that we can have a better relationship with God. As we enter this special time in the liturgical year, let us remember to pray more, give more, and fast from things that distract us from God, so that we may come closer to Jesus Christ.
Help us to turn our thoughts
towards the season of Lent.
us to look at the things we can change
that we are willing to sacrifice
build a better relationship with you
fasting, prayer, and giving to others.
Through Christ our Lord.
