This week, we are exploring some of the advice Pope Francis has for us. Today, the advice almost sounds funny, but it has a good point to it. Pope Francis’ advice is to finish the food we have in our meals. Pope Francis indicates that sometimes we live in a culture of waste, where we throw away so much food that we neglect the fact that there are poor and hungry people around us.
Forgive us for taking for granted the many gifts you give us.
Help us to see the food that we eat as a blessing from you
and that we work to reduce wasting of this precious gift.
Help us to change our ways
so that we may work to create a world
where everyone has the same access
to good food in our community and world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
