CAREER FAIR OCTOBER 17th
Most students should have
signed up for the SUTIL PSE Career Fair on Thursday, October 17th in your
Language Arts class. If you are not taking ELA this semester and would like to
sign up for a session, please go to Student Services. The grade
9’s must attend sessions in both period two and three and the grade
10, 11, & 12 students may attend one or both sessions or choose not to
attend at all. Sessions to choose from are: U of S, U of R, Canadian Forces,
SIAST, Lakeland College, First Nations University and Saskatchewan Apprenticeship.
Presenters will have display booths in the commons at noon as well.

SASKATCHEWAN LIBRARY WEEK
1) The www.mysmhs.ca Bookmark Contest
Get a bookmark from your Period #1 teacher (or the library), listen for the daily digits and collect your candy treat when your digits are announced. The bookmark not only promotes the new St. Mary High School blog (www.mysmhs.ca à represents My St. Mary High School), complete with a QR code that can be read by any smartphone (download of QR code reader app required), but also lists useful websites, usernames and passwords.
2) Student PowerPoint Slides : Gift Card and Class Prize
Create a PowerPoint slide that promotes a book available in the SMHS library. Email the slide to smhslibrary@pacsd.ca by Friday at 3:30 p.m. Each slide is an entry into a draw for a gift card. As well, the homeroom with the greatest student participation will receive a class treat. THE VIMY PILGRIMAGE AWARD
In recognition of young people who demonstrate outstanding service, positive contributions, notable deeds, bravery or leadership, the Vimy Foundation has created the Vimy Pilgrimage Award. Exceptional Canadian youth – ages 14 to 17 – who have served their peers, schools, communities, province or country are eligible. The Award consists of a fully funded, week-long educational program in Europe to study Canada’s tremendous First World War effort. Scheduled in early April during Vimy week, the program will include classroom education and daily field trips to significant WWI sites and memorials.

The submission deadline for the Vimy Pilgrimage Award is midnight, November 11th.

Coffee house is an opportunity for St Mary High School students to perform for one another and enjoy an evening of entertainment and good fellowship. This year's coffee house will take place on Thursday, October 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room. Admission will be $3.00 with all proceeds going towards the Mission to Tanzania Africa this summer to build a well. Tea, Coffee and baking will also be available for purchase. To sign up to perform see Mrs. Skomorowski in B26 by Tuesday, October 22nd.
RAFFLE FOR TANZANIA
SLC is selling raffle tickets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch throughout the month of October. Tickets are $1 each and include a coupon for a free teen burger. Proceeds go towards the Mission to Tanzania Africa this summer to build a well. You could win an Ipad, e-reader, 3DS, $200 prepaid Visa gift card and more!
ST. MARY SQUIRES
Catholic Youth, under age18, are invited to become part of the first squires circle at St. Mary High School. The squires are a branch of the Knights of Columbus, and by joining at school will allow students to become involved in their school, local parishes, and community. LORAN AWARD
The Loran Award seeks to recognize students that demonstrate character, leadership and commitment and service to the community.
