God Almighty, you are our proud, heavenly parent. We are your children who can allow your light to shine through our talents and skills. Guide us as we learn more about our gifts in school and at play. Amen

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS 

TERRY FOX FOUNDATION: PULLING FOR A CURE
On Thursday, September 26th, a 72-passenger bus (13,048 kg) will be situated outside the school at 12:50 p.m. Teams will take turns pulling the bus “uphill” for 25 metres, and the time will be recorded. The 2013 Teams (15 male and 15 female) are as follows:

Team Volleyball/Golf (Quintal/Packet)
Team Drama/Music (Van Otterloo/Skomorowski)
Team Soccer/SLC (Gareau/McLeod)
Team Cross Country/Track (Town/Prins)
Team Staff (Pearson)
How Can You Be Part of the Cure?
- Donate money in the classroom. 
- Get a pledge sheet from the library and canvas friends and family for donations.   (This activity counts as 2 hrs community service.) 
- Join a team to help pull the bus. Sign up with a team Teacher Captain.
- Cheer on the teams while they are “Pulling for a Cure”.

CHESS CLUB

Are you interested in playing board games? Chess Club is starting on Tuesday, September 24th at 12:30 p.m. in Rm B27. It is open to all ages and skill levels. We also play more than chess. Come check it out! It is every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:30 p.m.

ICE CREAM SALE FOR CANCER
This week students will be selling ice cream during the 8 minute break in the morning and during lunch in the Commons to raise money for the Saskatoon Children’s Cancer Unit.  All profits will be used to purchase items to directly help the kids and families in our area with cancer.


LORAN AWARD
The Loran Award seeks to recognize students that demonstrate character, leadership and commitment and service to the community. Up to 30 Loran Awards are available at up to $80,000.The application deadline is October 16th, 2013. Please see Mrs. McLeod in Student Services for more information or go to www.loranscholar.ca

U of S OPEN HOUSE
The U of S Open House is an annual event for prospective students and will be taking place on October 4, 2013. Prospective students are invited to spend time on campus to experience the U of S in full swing. Through interactive information sessions, tours and other activities,students can learn more about the wide variety of programs and services available at the U of S. St. Mary students may travel by bus but must sign up in Student Services with Mrs. McLeod or Mrs. Rapin by Monday, September 30th. The cost is $10.00. Students must register themselves online. Sessions fill up quickly and students are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. LEVEL ONE VOLLEYBALL REFEREE CLINIC
The clinic will be held on Monday, September 16 3:45 p.m.- 5:15 p.m. or Tuesday, September 24 3:45 p.m. -5 :15 p.m. at the St. Mary High School in the library.  See Ms. Packet if you are interested or you have any questions.
