DAY 1
MORNING PRAYER
Christopher
Nolan, a disabled writer, won the Whitbread Book of the Year Award on this day
in 1988. He was aged 22. In his autobiography, he talks about recognising the face of God in human form:
Such were his teachers, and such was their imagination, that the mute boy became constantly amazed at the almost telepathic degree of certainty with which they read his facial expression, eye movements and body language. Many a good laugh was had by teacher and pupil as they deciphered his code. It was at moments such as these that Joseph recognised the face of God in human form.It glimmered in their kindness to him, it glowed in their keenness, it hinted in their caring; indeed, it caressed in their gaze.
Let’s
pause to think for a moment of individuals who have been very special for us,
in whom we have “recognised the face of God in human form”. Let’s
pray for our school community that, students and teachers together, we may
learn to recognise the face of God in others today.
Father,
Teach
us to recognise Your face in the people
You
put into our lives today.
Amen
