DAY 1
MORNING PRAYER
This week, we are exploring some of the
advice Pope Francis had for us. Today,
the advice almost sounds funny, but it has a good point. Pope Francis’ advice is to finish the food we
have for our meals. Pope Francis
indicates that sometimes we live in a culture of waste, where we throw away so
much food that we neglect the fact that there are poor and hungry people around
us. In a very direct statement, Pope Francis reminds us that we should all
remember that throwing away food is like stealing from the tables of the
hungry. He goes on to encourage all of
us to reflect on how much food we waste and to identify ways to address this
issue.
Loving God,
Forgive us for taking for granted the many
gifts You give us.
Help us to see the food that we eat as a
blessing from You
and that to work on reducing the wasting
of this precious gift.
Help us to change our ways
so that we may work to create a world
where everyone has the same access to good
food
in our community and world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord,
