EDSBY MESSAGE: November Overdue/Lost

In a few days, all Grade 9 – Grade 12 students with Overdue/Lost library books, textbooks, novel sets and calculators will be receiving an Edsby message titled “November Overdue/Lost”. It will have a screen capture of their library account listing these items. All Grade 10 - 12 students with Overdue/Lost textbooks, novel sets and calculators will have these items added to their SchoolCash account. These items can be paid online (SchoolCash access on the division website at www.pacsd.ca) or in the main office. 

PARENT/TEACHER/STUDENT INTERVIEWS
Parent/teacher/student interviews are Tuesday, November 18^th from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm. An Edsby message/link has been sent to all parents/guardians allowing them to book an appointment time with teachers. After parents have selected a time slot, they will be prompted to "Add note": typing either "in-person" or "phone (xxx-xxx-xxxx)".

UPSTAGE PRODUCTIONS: “Radium Girls”

École St Mary High School invites the community to Upstage Productions' two-act play, "Radium Girls”. Show times at the École St. Mary High School Lecture Theatre are Wednesday, November 19th - Saturday, November 22nd at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $12 for Adults and $8 for Students (18 years and younger) and are available at the main office or at the door (cash, electronic payment). 

* Grade 9 students will be attending morning performances on Wednesday and Thursday.

** Grade 10 - 12 students may go to the main office to get a FREE stamped BLUE ticket for an evening performance. (Office staff will create a list of the students who get a FREE ticket.)

Synopsis

In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Her chief adversary is her former employer, Arthur Roeder, an idealistic man who cannot bring himself to believe that the same element that shrinks tumors could have anything to do with the terrifying rash of illnesses among his employees. As the case goes on, however, Grace finds herself battling not just with the U.S. Radium Corporation, but with her own family and friends, who fear that her campaign for justice will backfire. Written with warmth and humor, Radium Girls is a fast-moving, highly theatrical ensemble piece for 9 to 10 actors, who play more than 30 parts—friends, co-workers, lovers, relatives, attorneys, scientists, consumer advocates, and myriad interested bystanders. BASKETBALL OFFICIALS CLINIC

Any students or community members who want to get involved with officiating some level of basketball are invited to the basketball officials clinics. A virtual clinic will be held on Wednesday, November 26th. If you have any questions about the clinics, please see Mr. Noble.

NATIONAL YOUTH REMEMBRANCE CONTESTS

Students are encouraged to enter the following contest categories: Poster Contest (Black & White or Color), Literary Contest (Essay or Poem), and/or Video Contest for Intermediate Students (Grade 7-9) and Senior Students (Grade 10-12). There are five levels of judging: Branch, Zone, District, Provincial and National. All first-place winners will move on to the next level. The deadline to enter at the Prince Albert Legion (Branch #2 at 306-763-7201) is Saturday, November 15^th. 

SMHS RESOURCES EDSBY GROUP: Students/Parents/Staff

All staff, students and parents are encouraged to select and SIGN UP for the SMHS Resources Edsby Group. It contains information pertaining to the Ecole St Mary High School website (morning prayer, daily announcements, cafeteria menu etc.), the Learning Resource Centre website (Book Promotions, Library Search, Ministry databases etc.) and SMHS Career Planning website (Blog entries for scholarships/events, high school graduation credits, post-secondary requirements etc.)

DRIVER EDUCATION 2025 - 2026

Students who are interested in the 2025 - 2026 driver education program are to register online through Microsoft Forms: Driver Education Registration 2025 - 2026 (This link is also posted in Edsby.) Mr. Bourdon will then place students into groups on Edsby. A reminder that spots fill up quickly, so it is important for students to select their two top options to best accommodate each student. 

The start dates for session are as follows:

Session 3: Oct. 20 - Dec. 2 (12:15 pm - 1:10 pm)

• your MYSGI account number. (needed on the first day of class)
• Students must go to SGI to get their MySGI customer number.

INDIGENOUS ART CLUB 

Students will begin to enhance their skills by working primarily with beads. Artisan trainees will start learning to bead using the 2-needle applique method during the following meeting times: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am - 8:45 am and lunch hour, as well as Wednesday: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, unless otherwise posted for special event teachings. All participants will be asked to log their hours. The expected time that a project may require ranges from 4 to 30 hours or more. Sessions will enhance students’ skill levels, enabling them to confidently participate at regional, provincial and national levels of Skills Canada competitions. Students will be able to compete at the school level, city and provincial levels this year based on performance and dedication to the skill required. See Mrs. Longjohn-Constant in room B26 for more details. 

ART CLUB 

Art Club is every Thursday from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm in the Art Room. Drop-ins are always welcome! 

GAMES CLUB 

Games Club is every Tuesday and Thursday in the Lecture Theatre at lunch. Drop in and play some board games or test your skills on the Switch. 

YEARBOOK CLUB 

Help capture school memories! A camera is supplied! No experience is needed! Students who are interested should contact Mrs. Janay Cantin.

HOMEWORK CLUB
Need a quiet spot to focus on your homework, study for an exam, or simply to enjoy your lunch in peace? Then come join us in Room B20 (Mr. Kirilenko's classroom)! Homework Club runs Monday to Friday from 12:14 pm to 1:14pm. All students are welcome to attend!

FREE FEMININE MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS

École St Mary High School has received free feminine menstrual products to support our students. Students can go to the main office for their free products (box of tampons and a box of pads). Menstrual Equity in Saskatchewan Schools is a three-year initiative.

Fiero Code is a web-based computer-programming education resource for kids (ages 8+), teens, and adults. Learn how to code using Code Blocks, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL, and much more. This educational resource will teach users how to create video games, apps, websites, animations, programs, etc. Fiero Code provides courses, tutorial videos, contest events, and more. From beginner to advanced, there is something for everyone with Fiero Code! (A Public Library Card is required.)
