MORNING PRAYER

Saturday was the feast day of ‘All Saints’. It is the day that the church remembers all who have lived a life following in the footsteps of Jesus – people such as St. Teresa of Calcutta, or St. John Paul II.  These people tried really hard to follow the teachings of Jesus. Today is a special day when we remember them.  

Loving God,

Strengthen us to walk in Jesus’ footsteps,

as we follow his message in our words and actions. 

Thank You for the examples of the saints,

and may we be inspired to make our world a better place,

by loving God and each other.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

VACCINATION CLINIC: Flu and COVID

École St. Mary and Saskatchewan Health Authority are working together to bring a Flu and Covid Vaccination Clinic to our school on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025. This will be available for our staff and students.  Please remember to bring your Health Card.  If you forget or do not have one, you will still be able to receive a vaccination.  We will call students down to the conference room throughout the morning.

A/V & LIVESTREAMING CREW: Mandatory Meeting

All members of this club must attend a brief meeting on Wednesday, November 5^th in Rm 238 at 12:30 pm. This meeting is mandatory! Students who cannot attend need to communicate with a staff advisor. There are a few upcoming events that require volunteers (and are after hours), and we need to determine people for those events: volleyball provincials, the play, and the Christmas concert. We will also discuss having more student leadership roles, as we would like to give you more ownership. New members are always welcome.

BASKETBALL OFFICIALS CLINIC

Any students or community members who want to get involved with officiating some level of basketball are invited to the basketball officials clinics. An in-person clinic will be held on Wednesday, November 12^th at 7 pm in the gold gym at Carlton School. There is no cost to attend. As well, two virtual clinics will be held on Tuesday, November 4th and Wednesday, November 26th. If you have any questions about the clinics, please see Mr. Noble.

SASKATCHEWAN MINING ASSOCIATION (SMA)

SMA has teamed up with the Industry Education Councils to offer hands-on days for grade 10-12 students to learn about career pathways in mining at Saskatchewan’s post-secondary institutes. 

1) Spotlight on Mining is Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at SaskPolytech & USask in Saskatoon. Spotlight on Mining explores careers in the mining industry through hands-on activities and short presentations from Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s School of Mining, Energy & Manufacturing Programs (Mining Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology and Chemical Technology) and the University of Saskatchewan Geology Department and industry experts. 2) ManuQuest

Join us to kick off Saskatchewan Manufacturing Week at our ManuQuest event, where students will be introduced to the diverse range of careers available in the manufacturing sector.Students will tour Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s School of Mining, Energy & Manufacturing, as well as a local manufacturing facility, to observe industry professionals at work and learn about their careers. 3) THINK Mining – Engineering, Mining Operations, and Geology Career Exploration is Thursday, November 13, 2025 from 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM with the University of Regina. Grade 10 to 12 students will enjoy an interactive day exploring in-demand and high-paying careers within the Saskatchewan Mining Industry. CANADIAN PARENTS FOR FRENCH: Free Concert
Canadian Parents for French - Prince Albert Chapter will be offering a free concert for French immersion families with the Edwards Brothers (students and parents) on Sunday, November 2nd at 5:30 pm at the École Holy Cross Gym. French Immersion families can join Canadian Parents for French for free here. U of R: What is Engineering Day

Are curious about science, innovation, or making a real-world impact? On Thursday, November 6th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the U of R Campus, the Faculty of Engineering is hosting a fantastic opportunity for students, parents and guardians to explore what engineering is all about. Students will hear from passionate professors, U of R students, and special guests, meet future classmates, bust some engineering myths, and win awesome prizes. ​What is Engineering Day – a full-day, hands-on event designed for high school students across Saskatchewan. UPSTAGE PRODUCTIONS: “Radium Girls”

École St Mary High School invites the community to Upstage Productions' two-act play, "Radium Girls”. Show times at the École St. Mary High School Lecture Theatre are Wednesday, November 19th - Saturday, November 22nd at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $12 for Adults and $8 for Students (18 years and younger) and are available at the main office or at the door (cash, electronic payment). 

* Grade 9 students will be attending morning performances on Wednesday and Thursday.

** Students who are NOT attending these morning performances may go to the main office to get a FREE stamped BLUE ticket for an evening performance. (Office staff will keep a list of the students who get a FREE ticket.)

HOUSE OF COMMONS: Page Program Recruitment Campaign

Each year, 40 bilingual students graduating from high schools and CEGEPs from across Canada are selected to participate in the House of Commons Page Program. Pages work directly on the floor of the House of Commons and are responsible for a wide range of tasks related to Chamber activities. This provides them with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of Parliament by playing a role in the rich traditions of the Canadian parliamentary system. To be considered, candidates must submit their application and a résumé (maximum of two pages) through the House of Commons career portal by the deadline. Eligible candidates must be starting full-time or part-time post-secondary studies in September 2026 at the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Saint Paul University, Université du Québec en Outaouais, Collège La Cité or Algonquin College. Successful candidates will be required to reside in the National Capital Region during their year of employment as a Page.

The recruitment campaign for the 2026-2027 Page Program is open from September 29 to November 9, 2025! Interested students can follow the link to the website (ourcommons.ca/page) to submit their resume. SMHS SCHOOL SPIRIT CLOTHING

School spirit wear is now available! Show your school pride by ordering École St. Mary gear! All items should be ready for pick up before Christmas. Orders must be picked up at North Star Screen Printing at 897 Central Avenue. (You will receive an email when your item is ready.) 2026 GRAD CLOTHING STORE

The 2026 Grad clothing store is now open!  We are working with Source for Sports again this year. All orders placed will be delivered to St. Mary for pick up and should arrive before Christmas. Orders for this store must be placed by Wednesday, November 12th. There will be another store open in January and one in April. Happy Shopping!

EDSBY MESSAGE: October Overdue/Lost
All Grade 9 – Grade 12 students with Overdue/Lost library books, textbooks, novel sets and calculators will be receiving an Edsby message titled “October Overdue/Lost”. It will have a screen capture of their library account listing these items. All Grade 10, 11 and 12 students with Overdue/Lost textbooks, novel sets and calculators will have these items added to their SchoolCash account. These items can be paid online (SchoolCash access on the division website at www.pacsd.ca) or in the main office.

NATIONAL YOUTH REMEMBRANCE CONTESTS

Students are encouraged to enter the following contest categories: Poster Contest (Black & White or Color), Literary Contest (Essay or Poem), and/or Video Contest for Intermediate Students (Grade 7-9) and Senior Students (Grade 10-12). There are five levels of judging: Branch, Zone, District, Provincial and National. All first-place winners will move on to the next level. DRIVER EDUCATION 2025 - 2026

Students who are interested in the 2025 - 2026 driver education program are to register online through Microsoft Forms: Driver Education Registration 2025 - 2026 (This link is also posted in Edsby.) Mr. Bourdon will then place students into groups on Edsby. A reminder that spots fill up quickly, so it is important for students to select their two top options to best accommodate each student.

INDIGENOUS ART CLUB 

Students will begin to enhance their skills by working primarily with beads. Artisan trainees will start learning to bead using the 2-needle applique method during the following meeting times: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am - 8:45 am and lunch hour, as well as Wednesday: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, unless otherwise posted for special event teachings. All participants will be asked to log their hours. The expected time that a project may require ranges from 4 to 30 hours or more. Sessions will enhance students’ skill levels, enabling them to confidently participate at regional, provincial and national levels of Skills Canada competitions. Students will be able to compete at the school level, city and provincial levels this year based on performance and dedication to the skill required. See Mrs. Longjohn-Constant in room B26 for more details. 

ART CLUB 

Art Club is every Thursday from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm in the Art Room. Drop-ins are always welcome! 

GAMES CLUB 

Games Club is every Tuesday and Thursday in the Lecture Theatre at lunch. Drop in and play some board games or test your skills on the Switch. 

YEARBOOK CLUB 

Help capture school memories! A camera is supplied! No experience is needed! Students who are interested should contact Mrs. Janay Cantin.

HOMEWORK CLUB
Need a quiet spot to focus on your homework, study for an exam, or simply to enjoy your lunch in peace? Then come join us in Room B20 (Mr. Kirilenko's classroom)! Homework Club runs Monday to Friday from 12:14 pm to 1:14pm. All students are welcome to attend!

FREE FEMININE MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS

École St Mary High School has received free feminine menstrual products to support our students. Students can go to the main office for their free products (box of tampons and a box of pads). Menstrual Equity in Saskatchewan Schools is a three-year initiative.

Fiero Code is a web-based computer-programming education resource for kids (ages 8+), teens, and adults. Learn how to code using Code Blocks, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL, and much more. This educational resource will teach users how to create video games, apps, websites, animations, programs, etc. Fiero Code provides courses, tutorial videos, contest events, and more. From beginner to advanced, there is something for everyone with Fiero Code! (A Public Library Card is required.)
