The Catholic Church remembers Missions Month in October. Missions Month is a way for us to remember that we all have gifts and that we are asked to share them with the world to make our planet a better place to live. Many people dedicate their lives to missions, to going to a different country and helping them learn about the faith.  Today we are going to pray for missions around the world by using a prayer supported by Pope Francis.

Heavenly Father,

Your son told his disciples to go to all the world and make disciples.

We know this challenge is still with us today.

Help us to support and pray for missions around the world,

so that people around the world

may know the love and mercy of Jesus,

who lives and reigns with You.

École St. Mary High School is proud to host the Boys Soccer Provincials on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25 at Kinsmen Park and Prime Minister Park fields. 

SR FOOTBALL: League Final

We are excited about our upcoming football game on Saturday, October 25th, at 1:00 p.m., as our team takes on the host Carlton Crusaders in the North Saskatchewan Football League finals at Max Clunie Field.

Please note the following details:

·         Gates Open: 11:30a.m.

·         Entrances: Three entrances will be open for spectators (see attached map on Edsby message for locations).

·         Bags/Backpacks: To ensure a smooth experience for all spectators, spectators are encouraged not to bring bags or backpacks. Any bags or backpacks brought into the venue may be subject to search at the entrance.

·         Admission: **There will be a gate in place for the game. It will be $5 per person, with grade 8 students and younger getting in for free. They will be accepting cash or contactless payment. **

USASK PA CAMPUS OPEN HOUSE: Friday, October 24^th

Students who are wondering what life as a University of Saskatchewan (USask) student in Prince Albert is like, are encouraged to attend the USask's PA Campus Open House! The information fair is on Friday, October 24^th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. This is an opportunity to: meet representatives from your future college, learn about academic programs at the Prince Albert campus, tour popular places and learn how to apply for admission. CANADIAN PARENTS FOR FRENCH: Free Concert
Canadian Parents for French - Prince Albert Chapter will be offering a free concert for French immersion families with the Edwards Brothers (students and parents) on Sunday, November 2nd at 5:30 pm at the École Holy Cross Gym. French Immersion families can join Canadian Parents for French for free here. CPF offers resources, scholarships, and French-language opportunities for students, parents, and families, both at the local and national levels. For more information, please contact Mr. Joncas.

U of R: What is Engineering Day

Are curious about science, innovation, or making a real-world impact? On Thursday, November 6th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the U of R Campus, the Faculty of Engineering is hosting a fantastic opportunity for students, parents and guardians to explore what engineering is all about. Students will hear from passionate professors, U of R students, and special guests, meet future classmates, bust some engineering myths, and win awesome prizes. ​What is Engineering Day – a full-day, hands-on event designed for high school students across Saskatchewan. UPSTAGE PRODUCTIONS: “Radium Girls”

École St Mary High School invites the community to Upstage Productions' two-act play, "Radium Girls”. Show times at the École St. Mary High School Lecture Theatre are Wednesday, November 19th - Saturday, November 22nd at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $12 for Adults and $8 for Students (18 years and younger) and are available at the main office or at the door (cash, electronic payment). 

* Grade 9 students will be attending morning performances on Wednesday and Thursday.

** Students who are NOT attending these morning performances may go to the main office to get a FREE stamped BLUE ticket for an evening performance. (Office staff will keep a list of the students who get a FREE ticket.)

HOUSE OF COMMONS: Page Program Recruitment Campaign

Each year, 40 bilingual students graduating from high schools and CEGEPs from across Canada are selected to participate in the House of Commons Page Program. Pages work directly on the floor of the House of Commons and are responsible for a wide range of tasks related to Chamber activities. This provides them with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of Parliament by playing a role in the rich traditions of the Canadian parliamentary system. To be considered, candidates must submit their application and a résumé (maximum of two pages) through the House of Commons career portal by the deadline. Eligible candidates must be starting full-time or part-time post-secondary studies in September 2026 at the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, Saint Paul University, Université du Québec en Outaouais, Collège La Cité or Algonquin College. Successful candidates will be required to reside in the National Capital Region during their year of employment as a Page.

The recruitment campaign for the 2026-2027 Page Program is open from September 29 to November 9, 2025! Interested students can follow the link to the website (ourcommons.ca/page) to submit their resume. SMHS SCHOOL SPIRIT CLOTHING

School spirit wear is now available! Show your school pride by ordering École St. Mary gear! All items should be ready for pick up before Christmas. Orders must be picked up at North Star Screen Printing at 897 Central Avenue. (You will receive an email when your item is ready.) This will be the only store of the year to order your school clothing, so don't miss out! To order, go to the link on Edsby. This link will close on Friday, November 7th. 

2026 GRAD CLOTHING STORE

The 2026 Grad clothing store is now open!  We are working with Source for Sports again this year. All orders placed will be delivered to St. Mary for pick up and should arrive before Christmas. Orders for this store must be placed by Wednesday, November 12th. There will be another store open in January and one in April. Happy Shopping!

EDSBY MESSAGE: October Overdue/Lost
All Grade 9 – Grade 12 students with Overdue/Lost library books, textbooks, novel sets and calculators will be receiving an Edsby message titled “October Overdue/Lost”. It will have a screen capture of their library account listing these items. All Grade 10, 11 and 12 students with Overdue/Lost textbooks, novel sets and calculators will have these items added to their SchoolCash account. These items can be paid online (SchoolCash access on the division website at www.pacsd.ca) or in the main office.

NATIONAL YOUTH REMEMBRANCE CONTESTS

Students are encouraged to enter the following contest categories: Poster Contest (Black & White or Color), Literary Contest (Essay or Poem), and/or Video Contest for Intermediate Students (Grade 7-9) and Senior Students (Grade 10-12). There are five levels of judging: Branch, Zone, District, Provincial and National. All first-place winners will move on to the next level. DRIVER EDUCATION 2025 - 2026

Students who are interested in the 2025 - 2026 driver education program are to register online through Microsoft Forms: Driver Education Registration 2025 - 2026 (This link is also posted in Edsby.) Mr. Bourdon will then place students into groups on Edsby. A reminder that spots fill up quickly, so it is important for students to select their two top options to best accommodate each student. 

The start dates for session are as follows:

Session 3: Oct. 20 - Dec. 2 (12:15 pm - 1:10 pm)

• your MYSGI account number. (needed on the first day of class)
• Students must go to SGI to get their MySGI customer number.

INDIGENOUS ART CLUB 

Students will begin to enhance their skills by working primarily with beads. Artisan trainees will start learning to bead using the 2-needle applique method during the following meeting times: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am - 8:45 am and lunch hour, as well as Wednesday: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, unless otherwise posted for special event teachings. All participants will be asked to log their hours. The expected time that a project may require ranges from 4 to 30 hours or more. Sessions will enhance students’ skill levels, enabling them to confidently participate at regional, provincial and national levels of Skills Canada competitions. Students will be able to compete at the school level, city and provincial levels this year based on performance and dedication to the skill required. See Mrs. Longjohn-Constant in room B26 for more details. 

ART CLUB 

Art Club is every Thursday from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm in the Art Room. Drop-ins are always welcome! 

GAMES CLUB 

Games Club is every Tuesday and Thursday in the Lecture Theatre at lunch. Drop in and play some board games or test your skills on the Switch. 

YEARBOOK CLUB 

Help capture school memories! A camera is supplied! No experience is needed! Students who are interested should contact Mrs. Janay Cantin.

HOMEWORK CLUB
Need a quiet spot to focus on your homework, study for an exam, or simply to enjoy your lunch in peace? Then come join us in Room B20 (Mr. Kirilenko's classroom)! Homework Club runs Monday to Friday from 12:14 pm to 1:14pm. All students are welcome to attend!

FREE FEMININE MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS

École St Mary High School has received free feminine menstrual products to support our students. Students can go to the main office for their free products (box of tampons and a box of pads). Menstrual Equity in Saskatchewan Schools is a three-year initiative.

Fiero Code is a web-based computer-programming education resource for kids (ages 8+), teens, and adults. Learn how to code using Code Blocks, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL, and much more. This educational resource will teach users how to create video games, apps, websites, animations, programs, etc. Fiero Code provides courses, tutorial videos, contest events, and more. From beginner to advanced, there is something for everyone with Fiero Code! (A Public Library Card is required.)
