UPSTAGE PRODUCTIONS: We Will Rock You
École St Mary High School invites the community to Upstage Productions' musical, We Will Rock YouThe We Will Rock You story is set around 300 years in the future. Earth, aka iPlanet, is under the control of a corporation run by Killer Queen who forces all the Ga Ga Kids to conform to, and to consume, the same culture, fashion, and ideas. When Galileo hears lyrics of lost songs in his dreams, he’s captured by the corporation’s police force, along with another rebel – goth Scaramouche. Killer Queen is worried about a prophecy that involves a “place of living rock”. After the rebels escape custody and join up with the Bohemians, battles ensue between the two sides. Can they bring back rock music and freedom, and defeat Killer Queen? Will we all get to sing along to “We Are the Champions” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”? Head to We Will Rock You to find out. Showtimes at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre are at 7:30 p.m. from Wednesday, May 7th – Saturday, May 10th.  Tickets cost $22.00 for adults (ages 19 and over) and $18.00 for students (ages 18 years and under) and are available at the E.A. JUNE AWARDS: Grade 9 – 11 General Proficiency Award
The Grade 9 – 11 General Proficiency Award is a non-monetary award given to a student in grade 9, grade 10, and grade 11. It recognizes the student’s contribution to the whole life of St. Mary High School and is based on the following criteria: academic achievement 50%, extra-curricular contributions 40%, and religious life contributions 10%.  Grade 9 - 11 General Proficiency Award Application The deadline to apply is Friday, May 9th.

JUNE AWARDS: John M. Cuelenaere Public Library Scholarship
The John M. Cuelenaere Public Library Scholarship of $250 is a recognition of a Grade 9 – 12 student who has been enrolled full-time in the academic year of 2024-2025. Candidates are students who have distinguished themselves by being an advocate for literacy in their school or the community and clearly demonstrate a love of reading. While high academics is not a requirement for applying, the student must have a Prince Albert Public Library (PAPL) card and plans for post-secondary education. Preference will also be given to former or current employees of John M. Cuelenaere Library, as well as a current Grade 12 student of École St. Mary High School. John M. JUNE AWARDS: Rotary Citizenship Scholarship
The Rotary Citizenship Scholarship of $400.00 is a recognition of a Grade 11 or 12 student that exhibits the characteristics of strong citizenship. It is modeled after the Rotary Adventure in Citizenship program with criteria that includes, strong academics, with strong character within the school environment, as well as the community. Candidates are students that respect and deal fairly with their fellow students, as well as participate in school and non-school activities that enhance their lives and the lives of those around them. The students should be planning some type of post-secondary education or training to enhance their personal skills. Rotary Citizenship Scholarship Application The deadline to apply is Friday, May 9th.

The Major/Minor Sports awards are presented to grade 12 students that have showcased a significant involvement with athletics during their time at École St. Mary High School. CASSIDY GRIMM MEMORIAL BURSARY: Education

This $500 bursary is awarded in June of each year to one recipient. Applicants need to be a Saskatchewan resident accepted into, or already attending, a post-secondary school in Saskatchewan, for the purpose of achieving a Bachelor of Education Degree. Additional information is available hereTo qualify for this bursary, you must submit:
  • a brief essay describing why you are going into Education and you’re your passion for teaching focuses on;
  • a brief biography describing who you are and what makes you, you;
  • a short explanation as to why you are applying for this particular bursary

Opening Doors to Tomorrow: Career & Job Fair Bursary

The Opening Door to Tomorrow Career and Job Fair Bursary is open to students (Saskatchewan Rivers, Prince Albert Catholic, Saskatchewan Polytech) and employees (Saskatchewan Health Authority, Prince Albert Community Futures, City of Prince Albert). This event is for Métis, First Nations and Inuit Students and their supporters to get to know the USask campus and community. PA PUBLIC LIBRARY: Fiero Code

Fiero Code is a web-based computer-programming education resource for kids (ages 8+), teens, and adults. Learn how to code using Code Blocks, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, SQL, and much more. This educational resource will teach users how to create video games, apps, websites, animations, programs, etc. Fiero Code provides courses, tutorial videos, contest events, and more. From beginner to advanced, there is something for everyone with Fiero Code! (A Public Library Card is required.)

PA PUBLIC LIBRARY: Transparent Language Online

With over 100 languages to choose from (aboriginal languages, ESL programs, American Sign Language etc.) Transparent Language Online is a simple and effective way to learn a new language from the comfort of your own home. Available for desktop or mobile. (A Public Library card is required.) U of S: Bookings for Q&A Chat

Students have the opportunity to book 20-minute appointments with a USask representative regarding questions about becoming a USask student: admission requirements, scholarships, housing etc. Appointments are available every Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and/or every Friday from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm by booking an appointment here.


2025 FRANCOPHONE GAMES: July 15th - 25th, 2025
All French-speaking high school students in grades 9 – 12 are invited to compete this summer in Laval, Quebec. The Francophone Games are one of the biggest events and gatherings for French-speaking youth in Canada with over 1200 participants based on 3 profiles and 14 disciplines: Art (Music, Improvisation, Culinary Arts, Theatre), Leadership (Debate, Survival, Social Justice , Medias) and Sport (Track and Field, Badminton, Basketball, Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Beach Volleyball) Team Sask has 100 participants and 20 coaches. The registration fee of $750 includes airfare, accommodations, transportation, all meals, team swag and more! INDIGENOUS ART CLUB

Students will begin to enhance their skills by working primarily with beads. Artisan trainees will start learning to bead using the 2-needle applique method during the following meeting times: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am - 8:45 am and lunch hour, as well as Wednesday: 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm, unless otherwise posted for special event teachings. All participants will be asked to log their hours. The expected time that a project may require ranges from 4 to 30 hours or more. Sessions will enhance students’ skill levels, enabling them to confidently participate at regional, provincial and national levels of Skills Canada competitions. Students will be able to compete at the school level, city and provincial levels this year based on performance and dedication to the skill required. See Mrs. Longjohn-Constant in room B26 for more details. 

JAZZ BAND

Jazz band rehearsals are Wednesday from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm and Friday from 12:30 pm - 1:10 pm. All rehearsals are in the music room.

FREE FEMININE MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS
École St Mary High School has received free feminine menstrual products to support our students. Students can go to the main office for their free products (box of tampons and a box of pads). Menstrual Equity in Saskatchewan Schools is a three-year initiative.

SACRED HEART PARISH: Youth & Children’s Choir

This free opportunity is for children and youth age 6 – 18 who agree to participate in music ministry (one 11:am mass per month from Sept – June), practice twice a month (Sunday evenings 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and can read. Students who are interested in the 2023 - 2024 driver education program are to register online through Microsoft Forms: Driver Education Registration 2024 - 2025Mr. Bourdon will then place students into groups on Edsby. A reminder that spots fill up quickly, so it is important for students to select their three top options to best accommodate each student.
