DAY 2

MORNING PRAYER

Today is the feast day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary who lived in the early 13th C. When Elizabeth was 20 years old, her husband died, and she was left with a sizeable dowry. She used the money to build a hospital where she cared for the sick, injured, and dying until her own death at the age of 24. St. Elizabeth of Hungary is a symbol of charity in the Catholic Church and the patron saint of nurses. Today, let us ask St. Elizabeth for intercession, as we pray for all health-care professionals.

Dear Lord,

Today we pray for the doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals

who give so much to keep us healthy and safe.

We ask you to bless them with wisdom, skill, sympathy, and patience.

Keep them safe and healthy as they comfort, heal, and sanctify the sick.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, your only son, our lord.

Amen
