2023/2024 SCHOOL REGISTRATION & COURSE SELECTIONS
Students are encouraged to register for next year and select courses, as soon as possible. Information is available on Edsby regarding registration, new program delivery models and course selections.

SMHS GRAD 2023: June 26th at 9:00 a.m. at the Art Hauser Centre

The celebration will include: Welcome and Introductions, Liturgy of the Word, and the presentation of Graduation Awards. Everyone is welcome to attend. 

PARKLAND AMBULANCE: Paramedic Apprenticeship Program

Parkland Ambulance is looking for students who are graduating high school and interested in enrolling in the Paramedic Apprenticeship Program. To apply, students must complete Grade 12 with a minimum overall average of 60% in the following four courses: English Language Arts A30, English Language Arts B30, one of Biology 30 or Chemistry 30, and one of Workplace and Apprenticeship Math 30 or Foundations of Math 30 or Pre-Calculus 30.  Applicants will also participate in an interview process to determine the best candidates (up to 4 spots available). MEETING: GIRLS SOCCER 2023/2024

All girls interested in playing soccer next school year are to attend a meeting on Wednesday, June 21st  at 12:20 pm. in the small gym. Students who are not able to attend should contact Mrs Zurakowski in the big gym for information.

STUDENT LIBRARY & STUDENT CLASSROOM RESOURCES
All student library resources (books for independent reading) are due Wednesday, June 14th. All student classroom resources (textbooks, novel sets, calculators, headphones etc.) are due Thursday, June 22nd. 
 Edsby messages about Out/Overdue/Lost items will be sent on Monday, June 19th and Friday, June 23rd.

PHE SASKATCHEWAN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP: 5 x $300

Physical & Health Education (PHE) Saskatchewan is looking to award 5 scholarships of $300 to high school students who meet the following criteria: a minimum of two Physical Education/Wellness or Health credits, be actively involved in the school Intramural and Extra-Curricular program, have an average of at least 70% in subject areas required for minimum entrance requirements for his/her intended area of study, exhibit strong leadership and sportsmanship qualities, and be a positive role model in his/her school and/or community. In addition, the student must be enrolled in first year studies in one of the following programs in a Saskatchewan Post-Secondary Institution: College of Education with a major or minor in Physical Education and/or Health (U of S), College of Kinesiology (U of S), Faculty of Education with a major or minor in Physical Education and/or Health (U of R), Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies (U of R), and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Recreation and Community Development program. SASKATCHEWAN ROWING YOUTH PROGRAM

The Saskatchewan Rowing Association is offering FREE summer rowing half-day camps for youth between the ages of 12 – 15. (Students meet at the Prince Albert Rowing Club and then go to Spruce Point at Christopher Lake.) The camps run from 10 am – 2 pm with date choices of July 11-13, July 25-27, August 8-10, and August 15-17. JACK MOORE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP & BURGESS BURSARY

Saskatchewan Command is offering 10 Scholarships and 10 Bursaries of $500 each. Criteria includes being a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a current- or former-serving member of the Canadian Armed or Allied Forces or RCMP, as well as entering First Year of Post-Secondary Education at a University, Technical/Trade School or a Business College. The applications must be received by August 15th. YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The Multicultural Council in Prince Albert is looking for students to get involved in their Youth Ambassador Program. It is an annual program which focuses on Youth engagement and participation in the community. Youth participants will be given an opportunity to propose a youth-led initiative that focus on reconciliation, anti-racism, diversity, inclusion and democratic engagement and strengthening youth resilience in the community. SCIENCE CAMP FOR SASKATCHEWAN INDIGENOUS YOUTH

The First Nations University of Canada is inviting students, ages 12 - 18, to spend two days of learning from experts, including Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and scientists. Students will get to explore and learn about monitoring and analyzing water quality, identifying native plants, and even learning computer coding! The science camp is Thursday, July 13th and Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Prince Albert Elks Lodge. Spots are limited so sign up early! Admission is FREE! CANADA-SASKATCHEWAN GRANT: Students with Disabilities

Students with either a permanent, a persistent or a prolonged disability who are enrolled in a program at an educational institution may be eligible to receive the Canada-Saskatchewan Grant for Services and Equipment. GAMES CLUB
Games Club is a fun drop-in activity available to all students every Tuesday & Thursday at lunch in the Lecture Theatre (B5).  If you enjoy playing board games or want to test your skill on the Switch then come by. There is a large variety of board games, ranging from card games, games of chance to strategy games. There is also a Nintendo Switch available with Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart or Rocket League. Bring your lunch and play some games! Come with a friend or by yourself.  


ABORIGINAL CRAFTS CLUB: Beading / Hand stitch

Students who are interested in participating in an Aboriginal Crafts Club are encouraged to join the Creativi-team. There are several sessions being offered. Students who are a part of the Bead Team can attend open times in room B26 before school, at lunch, and every Tuesday after school. All other students who are interested in participating can attend every Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and the occasional Saturday from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 pm. For more information go to Aboriginal Crafts Club or talk to Mrs. Constant in room B26 or Ms. McLeod in room 206.


ART CLUB
Art club is in the Art Room (B18/19) and will run every Monday after school from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Come out to make some great art! Drop-ins are welcome!

KARATE CLASSES

Students who are interested in martial arts and/or self-defense classes are encouraged to join the Prince Albert Budokai Karate Club at the Elevation Academy Gym (1405 Bishop Pascal Place, Prince Albert - formerly, the Rivier Gym). Starting in January, classes are Mondays and Wednesdays: Beginner Classes from 6 pm to 7 pm and Advance Classes from 7 pm to 8 pm.
