Today is the feast days of St. Timothy and St. Titus. Both men were disciples of St. Paul and leaders in the early church. We can find letters from St. Paul to both Timothy and Titus in the New Testament in which a major theme of courage arises. In 2 Timothy, St. Paul writes “God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline. Do not be ashamed then, of the testimony about our Lord... but join me in the suffering of the gospel, relying on the power of God.”
Today we pray for you to help us cast aside our fears.
Help us to rise to the challenge
of spreading your word and your love
to those whom we encounter today.
Be with us when we are faced with difficulties
and guide us to everlasting life.
