At the end of every school year, during Commencement/Graduation & Thanksgiving for the School Year Celebration and Awards Assembly, the school community celebrates the gifts that God has given our students. All Grade 9-Grade 12 students are encouraged to login to their school email accounts, open the École St Mary  High School Awards Grade 9 - 12 email sent on May 14th, and submit an awards application by Tuesday, June 2nd at 9:00 amFor assistance accessing email or submitting an award application, please contact the school at 306-953-7544 or 306-953-7545.

ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR 2020-2021 (Please register by June 1st)
Students who are returning to École St. Mary High School are to check their email for two important messages:
      1)    The May 14th email Registration Information and Important Announcements has the document 2020/2021 Course List and Planning Tool, as well as instructions for registering online.
Step 1 Registration: a link to the 2020-21 Registration Form
Step 2 Course Selection: a link to the SMHS Class Selection Process video tutorial available at and the school division website, as well as a link to the École St. Mary High School portal to select classes using a student-specific username/password.
      2)     The May 14th email Online Selection of Classes for 20/21 School Year has the student-specific username password that is required for the École St. Mary High School portal in order to select classes.

Students who are new to École St. Mary High School are invited to contact École St. Mary High School at (306)953-7545 or (306)953-7544 to discuss registration with an administrator.

Many programs at USask are still accepting applications. These are the deadlines to apply to begin studies in Fall 2020. 
*Applicants are encouraged to apply early since class registration opens in June.

U of S PRE-ORIENTATION: May 25 - June 12
U-Start is an online pre-orientation to help new U of S (USask) students prepare for university. New students can participate in U-Start by joining online sessions and by engaging in online resources (videos, podcasts, etc.). We strongly encourage all new students participate in U-Start, regardless of what term they plan to begin their studies at USask. By joining online sessions, regardless of what term they plan to begin their studies at USask, students will be able to connect with their classmates, advisors, and student service providers to ask questions and learn more important information. Grade 12 students are encouraged to apply for the Tillie and Joe Kawula Scholarship and the Hershel Davidner Memorial Scholarship. The two $1000.00 scholarships will be awarded to students who value academics, community involvement, and volunteerism and are entering a recognized university or technical institute. One application will apply to both awards. These scholarships are open to Grade 12 graduates from Saskatchewan Rivers School Division, Prince Albert Catholic School Division and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Prince Albert campus Academic Grade 12 program.  An application form and additional information is available at on the school career website. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, June 30th.

The Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship is for graduating grade 12 students entering their first year of post-secondary education in agriculture, food science or a culinary program at a Canadian university or college of their choice in the fall of 2020. Up to 65 scholarships valued at $1,500 each will be awarded to students based on demonstrated academic standards and leadership in their community. The application deadline for this scholarship is June 10, 2020. For additional information and an application form, please go to

The Prince Albert Chapter Scholarship is awarded to a student who is committed to the teaching profession. In order to apply for the $500 scholarship, the student must provide proof of acceptance into a Saskatchewan College of Education and been actively involved in school and community. Additional information about selection criteria and the application process is available here. The deadline to apply is August 1, 2020.

Students in Grade 9 – Grade 12 who are interested in coding are encouraged to register for a computer game programming workshop offered by SaskPolytech involving instructor-led coding developments and licensing. The workshop will be offered Wednesday, June 17th – Friday, June 19th from 10 am – 3 pm. The cost of the workshop is $70 and only 20 participants will be accepted so register early (deadline is June 10th). For more information, and to register, please go to or contact Gavin Osbourne at

Each year, the 390,000 member National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) offers 8 Scholarships of $2,500 each that reflect its pursuit of equal opportunity for workers. Entrants must be the children/grandchildren or foster children/grandchildren of members or retirees of the National Union’s Component unions or its affiliates and who are planning to enter the 1st year of a Canadian public post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis in 2020. All of the 8 scholarships awarded will be based on the best 750 – 1,000 word essay for each scholarship. The deadline for applications and essays is July 6, 2020 and the 8 scholarships may have additional requirements, as noted at

Each year, the Saskatchewan School Boards Association awards a $2,500 scholarship to graduating high students entering a Degree Program, and a $2,500 scholarship to graduating high student entering a Technical/Trade Program. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated good character, community leadership, financial need and a 500-word essay. The application deadline is August 31st.
