PADDY O’ROURKE POETRY SCHOLARSHIP ($1000)
The Paddy O’Rourke Poetry Scholarship was established in 2018 to recognize and encourage young Saskatchewan poets. It is named in honour of Patrick (Paddy) O’Rourke, a teacher, literary editor, mentor and prominent friend of Saskatoon’s and Saskatchewan’s arts community. The Paddy O’Rourke Poetry Scholarship will be awarded annually, at the discretion of the Scholarship judges and administrators. The amount awarded will be determined in part by donor support. The 2019 scholarship will be for $1,000 CDN. Applications will be accepted from April 1 to April 30, 2019.  Applications must be submitted by mail or courier. LIVES THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE ESSAY CONTEST ($3,000; $1000)
Students in Grade 5- Grade 12 may enter the contest by writing an essay (300 words or less) based on someone they think made the biggest impact (positive or negative) on Canadian society in 2018. Prizes are awarded in two grade levels: Grade 5-8 and Grade 9-12. Two winners will be selected in each level: Grand Prize is $3,000 for the student and $1000 for the Department/Classroom of the teacher. First Prize is $2,000 for the student and $1000 for the Department/Classroom of the teacher. The deadline to enter is December 31st, 2018. CURLING JUNIOR LEAGUE
The curling league will resume being on Mondays starting November 19th. Practices will begin on Thursday, November 22nd.

“THE PINK BASKETBALL GAME”  
"The Pink Basketball Game" is an annual fundraising game to raise awareness and money to fight cancer. Our Senior Girls basketball team will be hosting the game this year on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 vs Carlton. The goal of this event is to raise funds for the purchase of CADD (computer aided drug design) pain pumps for the Victoria Hospital. One of the many ways you can help to achieve our goal is the purchase of a Swish for a Cure t-shirt. The t-shirts are available for $25 and can be purchased at the main office.   

UPSTAGE PRODUCTIONS: LEND ME A TENOR
Upstage Productions' invites the community to the two-act play, "Lend Me a Tenor". Show times at École St Mary High School are at 7:30 p.m. from Wednesday, November 21st to Saturday, November 24th.  Tickets cost $10.00 for adults (ages 19 and over) and $5.00 for students (ages 18 years and under) and are available at the main office or at the door on the evening of the production.

WHAT IS ENGINEERING?
Registration for the annual “What is Engineering?” event is now open. The event will be held at the University of Saskatchewan on Friday, November 16th, 2018. Students will connect with professional engineers, university professors, administrators and current students for an exciting snapshot of engineering, what engineers do and the exceptional variety of engineering educational programs offered in Saskatchewan by U of S and U of R. Students must register for the event before Wednesday, November 14th at https://whatisengineering2018.eventbrite.ca For more information, see Mrs. Rapin in Student Services.

SHAD 2019 ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
Shad is a 27-day STEAM and entrepreneurship based enrichment program for students in grade 10, 11 and 12. Participants live at a host university campus outside their hometown while engaging in experiential learning, sociocultural activities and community building. The SHAD 2019 program will take place from Sunday, June 30 to Friday July 26, 2019. Students can apply by visiting www.shad.ca/apply Applications must be submitted by Monday, November 19, 2018 and applicants will be notified of their application status in February 2019. See Mrs. Rapin in Student Services if you have any questions.  

SLC GOURMET COOKIE DOUGH AND MORE! FUNDRAISER 
The SLC will be accepting orders for cookie dough, brownies, butter tarts, and loaves (lemon, banana) from Thursday, November 1st to Tuesday, November 13th. The SLC prizes include a $75 Best Buy gift card for the top seller, as well as draws for $25 gift cards (Tim Hortons, Starbucks or Cineplex). The QSP company prizes include the following: every student who sells at least one tub of cookie dough is automatically entered in a Canada-wide draw to win $1000; for every 3 tubs sold, a student is entered to win a $25 gift card for Tim Hortons, Starbucks or Cineplex; for every 12 tubs sold, a student receives a free tub of cookie dough. Extra order forms and brochures are available at the main office.

STUDENT VOLUNTEERS FOR 5A BOYS VOLLEYBALL PROVINCIALS
École St Mary High School is hosting the provincial tournament on Friday, November 16th and Saturday, November 17th.  Student volunteers are needed to work the admission at École St Mary High School and at Sask Polytechnic.  Students can sign up to volunteer by contacting Mr. Quintal in Room 113.
