PRINCE ALBERT BAND FESTIVAL
École St Mary High School is hosting the Prince Albert Band Festival in the Lecture Theatre this week. Our students perform at the following times:
Wednesday, March 28th
Blessed Rivier Band at 9:30 a.m.
Senior Band at 10:40 a.m.
Grade 10 Band at 2:25 p.m.

SUNTEP EDUCATION & JUSTICE STUDIES PROGRAMS
Gabriel Dumont Institute will present information about the Justice Studies Program and SUNTEP Education Program on Wednesday, March 28th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. in the Conference Room (room 108). 

CATHOLIC VOCATIONS AWARENESS POSTER CONTEST: Grade 6 - 12
The Diocese is sponsoring a poster contest to promote vocations to religious life, such as Nuns, Deacons, Priests, or Bishops. Winners will receive Cineplex Theatre Contest prizes as follows: Middle School (grade 6-9) and High School (grade 10-12): First Place a $50 gift certificate and Second Place a $25 gift certificate. Posters are to be no smaller than regular sized paper (8.5” x 11”) and no larger than 40 cm by 50 cm. Posters are also to have two-dimensional in traditional art media (pen and ink, crayon, oil, watercolour, collage, fabric art, etc).  No digital art, photography or three-dimensional art is allowed. High School entries must also include one of the following:  Vocational prayer, vocational quote, or bible passage related to vocations. Winning posters will be displayed in the Prince Albert Catholic Churches. To enter the contest, submit a poster and a completed entry form to Deacon Salahub by Wednesday, March 28thFor entry forms, or more information about the poster contest, please contact Deacon Salahub.

MANN ART GALLERY HIGH SCHOOL JURIED ART SHOW
All high school students are invited to submit their artwork to have the opportunity to have their artwork shown as part of the Mann Art Gallery Juried Art Show. Artwork selected to be in the show will be juried for 5 cash prizes. All artwork must be submitted to Ms. Hawryluk no later than Wednesday, March 28th.
Criteria: a) You may submit one (1) artwork.
              b) The artwork must be original (not copied).
              c) Artwork must be made within the past year.
              d) Artwork does not need to be made in school.
If you are interested, have questions, or would like the submit your work, please contact Ms. Hawryluk in the Art Room (B18).

ALEX PRYTULA AWARD ($2,000)
A male and a female student will be presented with a $2,000 award at École St Mary Grad 2018. The criteria for the award is as follows: outstanding contributions, financial need, and academics. The deadline to apply is Thursday, March 29th at 12:30 p.m. Application forms are available online at http://bit.ly/Grad2018Awards . Please note that a high-resolution digital photo (jpg, not png), of the applicant doing an activity this year, must also be submitted to the main office with the completed application form.

LES AND IRENE DUBE SERVICE AND JUSTICE SCHOLARSHIP ($2,000)
A student will be presented with a $2,000 scholarship at École St. Mary Grad 2018. To apply for this scholarship, a student must be enrolling as a full-time student in an Arts and Science program at the University of Saskatchewan through St. Thomas More College for their first year of study. The student must also agree to participate fully in the Service and Justice program, administered by the Engaged Learning Coordinator, which requires two hours of community volunteer work per week, excluding holiday and exam periods. As well, the student must have a minimum 80% average based on the following classes: Christian Ethics 20 or 30, ELA A30 or B30, three 30 level electives (but not PAA30 or Phys. Ed. 30), have demonstrated outstanding leadership and Christian service during their high school years, and be recommended by a Christian Ethics teacher. SMHS GRAD AWARDS
Students who are interested in applying for awards that will be presented at Grad 2018 must submit a Grad 2018 Awards Application Checklist Cover Page and aGrad 2018 Awards Application. These forms, as well as forms for General Proficiency ApplicationRoyal Canadian Legion Verification, and The Sisters of Our Ladies of the Cross Scholarship Application are available at http://bit.ly/SMHSGradAwards An awards package containing the description of the awards is available at the main office. The checklist cover page, awards application, and other required documents, such as reference letters (not a relative, include contact information etc.), must be submitted to the main office no later than Friday, May 18th at 3:30 p.m.

LIFESAVING SOCIETY UPCOMING COURSES
Bronze Cross and Bronze Medallion courses will be offered at Marion Aquatics on April 7th and April 8th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on April 21st and April 22nd from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Participants must be 13 years of age, pass the Bronze Medallion exam and the Emergency First Aid (need not be current) and register by March 30th.  The cost is $325.00. Please contact Marion Aquatics to register.

RELAY FOR LIFE FUNDRAISER
Chelsea Mitchell is raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society through Relay for Life.  If you would like to help support Chelsea, she is selling Relay for Life Bracelets for $5.00.  They are available for purchase at the office.

ACCESS COMMUNICATIONS SCHOLARSHIPS 
Access Communications will award up to 20 scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating students in Saskatchewan who are planning to attend post-secondary school at either a technical college or university. For eligibility, selection criteria, and application forms visit www.MyAccess.ca/InTheCommunity . The submission deadline is April 20, 2018.

AFFINITY CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIPS - GRADE 11 & GRADE 12
Affinity Credit Union has two great scholarship opportunities for Grade 11 and Grade 12 students. To be eligible to apply, students must be a member of Affinity Credit Union or have a parent or guardian who is a member. Elwood Harvey Co-operative Leadership Program – Grade 11 students
Each student receives a $2500 award upon completion of the leadership program. Twenty-six students are accepted into the program. This award is offered by our District Councils, who have been elected to represent their communities within the Credit Union. The program gives recipients the opportunity to participate in their local District Council meetings and a variety of other events during their grade 12 year! Deadline to apply is May 1, 2018.
Build a Better World Scholarship – Grade 12 students
This program is designed for students graduating in spring 2018 and enrolling in post-secondary education. We have 60 scholarships of $500 to award this year! Deadline to apply is May 1, 2018.

RE\MAX QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE
Re/Max is offering sixteen $1000 bursaries to Grade 12 students in Western Canada. Students are to submit an online essay that conveys the contributions they have made to their communities: have you led a group of volunteers, raised funds for a worthwhile cause, helped special needs children or cared for seniors? CREATIVE CAMP OPPORTUNITY 
Are you looking for a creative outlet this summer? Try Creative Writing, Drama, or Musical Theatre Summer Camp. JUNIOR CITIZEN OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Junior Citizen of the Year award has honoured the youth of Saskatchewan for over 40 years. The program is sponsored by The Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association, in partnership with SaskPower, and the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.  These prestigious awards are given to kids who: Have a positive lifestyleAre dedicated to community and schoolHave a strong sense of caring and responsibility, Have the ability to overcome life’s challenges, Inspire others, Are between ages 8 to 18.  Four award recipients are chosen each year and receive a $3,000 bursary provided by SaskPower, to be used for their post-secondary education. For more information, please go to www.swna.com The call for nominations is now open. Deadline for nominations is March 31st, 2018.

CANADIAN PARENTS FOR FRENCH SCHOLARSHIPS
Canadian Parents for French is offering 4 scholarships for French Immersion students, one per grade level. Grade 9 to 11 scholarships are $100, Grade 12 is $300. If you are interested, please contact the main office or Mr. Joncas in Rm 238. The deadline for applications is May 4, 2018.

PAWC has begun!  Practices are on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please see Ms. Richards in Room 128 for more information.

WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS
SPEED TRAINING
Speed training will be every Friday until further notice.

WRESTLING
Practice runs Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays after school.  If you are interested in wrestling, and have not signed up yet, please see Ms. Richards in room 128, ASAP.

WEDNESDAY SUPPER STUDY
Students are invited to go to the library every Wednesday after school to receive additional teacher support. As well, a supper is served at 5:00 p.m.

OPEN SHOP FOR PAA STUDENTS
Students who are currently taking PAA classes that involve construction or drafting are invited to use the shop equipment, under teacher supervision, during lunch hours every Monday - Thursday. Please contact Mr. Thalheimer or Mr. Welter for more information.

Art Club meets every Monday from 3:30 p.m.- 5:00 p.m in the Art Room (B18). Everyone is welcome to attend. Come on out to make some great art!
