SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS 
Hey Period 1 - 'Let's give thanks'
Are you in a slump or would you like to enjoy this fall more? Thanksgiving is a great time of the year where we can brighten our days and the days of others, by living an 'attitude of gratitude.' This week and next week, before Friday October 9th, please bring one, two or more non-perishable food items to your Period 1 class as a way to give thanks. We will then bring the food items to our Thanksgiving liturgy before taking the entire collection to the food bank.  Thanks in advance!.

LORAN SCHOLARSHIP
The Loran Foundation seeks to recognize students that demonstrate character, leadership, commitment and service to the community. There are 30 Loran Awards available across Canada at up to $100,000. The application deadline is Wednesday October 21, 2015. Please see Mrs. Rapin in Student Services by October 9th if you are interested in being nominated.  For more information, please go to  www.loranscholar.ca.

STUDENTS NEEDED FOR ST. MARY NEWSLETTER
There will be a meeting on Tuesday, October 6th at 12:30 p.m. in Rm 206 for all students who are interested in helping to create the school newsletter. New members are welcome. Please see Mrs. Bernier if you are unable to attend and still want to help.


POWER OF BEING A GIRL  
Any young ladies interested in attending "Power of Being a Girl", please see Ms. Bear in Student Services before Friday, October 9th.

ORDERING PICTURE PROOFS
Students who are wanting to purchase pictures from the proofs they have received, please bring your payment (correct change if you are paying with cash) and order form to the office before Monday, October 5th at 3:25 p.m.

THE MAGAZINE CAMPAIGN WILL BE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2!!
Grade 9 students will have a presentation in the  Lecture Theatre during Period 1. 
Grade 10, 11, 12 students will be visited in classrooms by SLC members who will give them packages. Collection of orders and money will be done by Period 1 teachers.

ST MARY MINIONS
The St Mary Faith Formation team is seeking student help to form a liturgy team. These students would be responsible for carrying out the various ministries of school liturgies (reading, carrying the cross or candles etc.) Students who participate in the liturgy team would receive Christian Ethics service hours. There will be a meeting for any students interested in being a St Mary minion on Thursday, October 1st at 12:45 p.m. in the Faith Formation Office. Please see Mrs. Skomorowski, Mr. Wotherspoon or Father Travis for more information. 

U of S OPEN HOUSE Friday, October 2, 2015
Any Grade 12 students interested in attending the University of Saskatchewan Open House needs to preregister online at www.explore.usask.ca  Students who attend will :
·        ​Explore the campus and faculties
·        Take part in hands-on activities
·        Meet University Staff and faculty
·        Speak with current students about the U of S experience
After registering online, please see Mrs. Rapin in Student Services if you would like to  book a spot on the bus. 

ART CONTEST: NATIONAL GALLERY OF CANADA
Are you the next great artist?  The National Gallery of Canada is featuring a contest that can get your art work displayed in the national spotlight.  Check it out at www.soyouwanttobeanartist.ca/en/  or see Ms. Charlebois-Rinas in the Art Room.  The deadline to enter is October 5th, 2015.

JUNIOR LEAGUE CURLING
Juniors Registration night is Monday, October 19th from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. The leagues run from October 28th to March. The cost of registration is $55.  Beginners League (ages 11 & up) will be on Mondays from 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. beginning October 26th. The Junior League (ages 14 - 20) will be on Wednesdays 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. beginning October 28th. 

JUVENILE NOVICE CURLING CAMP
Juvenile Novice Curling Camp will be on Saturday, October 31st and Sunday, November 1st, The cost of the camp is $60 For more information, call Pat Bibby at 764-2421, Marg Mayotte at 763-5958 or the curling club office at 765-5201. ROTARY CLUB: ADVENTURES IN AGRICULTURE
This five-day program, held in Regina from November 25th to November 29th targets high school students in Grades 11 or Grade 12 who are interested in agriculture. It is designed to help broaden the knowledge and understanding of the multi-faceted agriculture sector, environmental issues and the challenge of providing food for the world. CAREER FAIR: OPENING DOORS TO TOMORROW
This year’s fair will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Prince Albert Exhibition Grounds. The career fair serves students of three school divisions from Grade 9-Grade 12, as well as the general public. The goal of the fair is to assist young adults with the intentional creation of their career plans and the transition into post-secondary opportunities. There will be over 65 booths with displayers from Western Canada. The booths offer both post-secondary educational and employment opportunities for attendees and is sponsored by Saskatchewan Rivers School Division, Prince Albert Catholic Schools, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region and Prince Albert and District Community Futures.
