U of S OPEN HOUSE - Friday, Oct. 2,2015
Any Grade 12 students interested in attending the University of Saskatchewan Open House needs to preregister online at www.explore.usask.ca  Students who attend will :
·        ​Explore the campus and faculties
·        Take part in hands-on activities
·        Meet University Staff and faculty
·        Speak with current students about the U of S experience
After registering online, please see Mrs. Rapin in Student Services if you would like to  book a spot on the bus. 

ART CONTEST: NATIONAL GALLERY OF CANADA
Are you the next great artist?  The National Gallery of Canada is featuring a contest that can get your art work displayed in the national spotlight.  Check it out at www.soyouwanttobeanartist.ca/en/  or see Ms. Charlebois-Rinas in the Art Room.  The deadline to enter is October 5th, 2015.

PARK(ING) DAY
During the afternoon of Friday September 18th, Art 30 students from St Mary High School will be joining artists worldwide by creating parklets on 9th Street. Park(ing) Day is an annual open source global event that temporarily transforms metered parking spaces into public spaces.  The purpose of the first Parking Day in 2005 was to bring attention to the lack of green space in cities.  It has since evolved into artists, activists and community members bringing awareness to a broad range of ideas, concepts and causes.  

SENIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEERS
If anyone is interested in volunteering for the tournament Friday, September 18th and Saturday, September 19th, please see Mrs. Gareau in Room 210. It is an excellent opportunity to acquire some Christian service hours. Jobs needed would include scorekeeping, calling lines, as well as working at the door. 

ST MARK PARISH FALL SUPPER VOLUNTEERS
St. Mark Fall Supper, to be held on Sunday, September 27th, is in need of servers.  This is an excellent opportunity to get your Christian Ethics service hours. Please see Mr. Corcoran in Room 227 for more information.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
SASKATOON "WORD ON THE STREET"
Saskatoon will be be hosting the 5th Annual "Word on the Street" event on Sunday, September 20th at 23rd St. E and 4th Ave. N from 10:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. The event features numerous writers (Guy Vanderhaugh, Yann Martel, David Carpenter, Sharon Butala, Margaret Trudeau, Chef Michael Smith, Robert Currie, Carson Demonds etc.), as well as exhibits. ROTARY CLUB: ADVENTURES IN AGRICULTURE
This five-day program, held in Regina from November 25th to November 29th targets high school students in Grades 11 or Grade 12 who are interested in agriculture. It is designed to help broaden the knowledge and understanding of the multi-faceted agriculture sector, environmental issues and the challenge of providing food for the world. CAREER FAIR: OPENING DOORS TO TOMORROW
This year’s fair will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Prince Albert Exhibition Grounds. The career fair serves students of three school divisions from Grade 9-Grade 12, as well as the general public. The goal of the fair is to assist young adults with the intentional creation of their career plans and the transition into post-secondary opportunities. There will be over 65 booths with displayers from Western Canada. The booths offer both post-secondary educational and employment opportunities for attendees and is sponsored by Saskatchewan Rivers School Division, Prince Albert Catholic Schools, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region and Prince Albert and District Community Futures.
