SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS 

ST JOSEPH PARISH VOLUNTEER SERVICE HOURS
St. Joseph Parish is looking for volunteers to assist with Children's Liturgy during Sunday masses (10:00 a.m.). Interested students are asked to contact Shelley at 922-0152 during the evenings. This opportunity would count toward Christian Ethics service hours.

SACRED HEART CATHEDRAL VOLUNTEER SERVICE HOURS

Volunteers are needed to help with activities at Sacramental Preparation sessions for children. This would involve six evenings from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. once a month from November to April.  If you are interested, please contact Sister Zelie at 306-763-2319 or 306-960-1782.

SLC MEETING
There will be a SLC meeting on TODAY at 12:30 p.m. in the Conference Room.

MAGAZINE DAILY DOUBLE DAY
For every magazine sold ONLINE, you will receive 2 entries for all the draws.

MAGAZINE CAMPAIGN
The magazine campaign has begun, and ends on Friday, October 24th!!
  • Prizes: $200 to Top Seller. Top Homeroom: cookies and milk
  • Every magazine sale is entered into a draw for a movie/junk food worth over $150.00!   
  • For every sale, show an SLC member or Staff Advisor (Mrs. Thurber, Mrs. Barrett, Mrs. Meckelborg) and receive a mustache tattoo.

SHARING CIRCLE   
There will be a Sharing Circle on Wednesday, October 29th at 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room. An Elder will be present. Please see Ms. Bear if you require more information.

COFFEE HOUSE
There will be a Coffee House on Thursday October 23rd at 7 p.m. in the Lecture Theatre at St. Mary High School! Admission is $2 or a donation of a non-perishable food item to go to the Prince Albert Food Bank. 

17th ANNUAL ST. MARY HIGH SCHOOL SOUL WEEK (Oct. 27th – Oct. 31st) 
In recognition of “All Souls Day” on November 2nd, it has been a tradition at St. Mary High School to celebrate the SOUL of St. Mary – its STUDENTS. 
If you are interested in participating in Soul Week, get a team of St. Mary students together to compete in each of the following categories:
ARTIST: 1 participant
ATHLETE: 1 male/ 1 female participant
POET: 1 participant
MATH & SCIENCE CHALLENGE: 2 participants
FOOSBALL: 2 participants
DANCER/SINGER: Minimum of 1 participant
ACTOR: Minimum of 3 participants
Then find a staff coach, create a name for your team, and enter your team.
Entry forms will be available at the main office on Monday, October 20th.
The deadline to enter your team is Friday, October 24th.

SASKATCHEWAN LIBRARY WEEK
To celebrate Saskatchewan Library Week you are invited to participate in the following contests:
a) The www.mysmhs.ca Bookmark Contest
Get a bookmark from your Period #1 teacher (or the library), listen for the daily digits and collect your candy treat when your digits are announced.
b) Student PowerPoint Slides: Gift Card and Class Prize
Create a PowerPoint slide that promotes a book available in the SMHS library. Email the slide to smhslibrary@pacsd.ca by Friday at 3:30 p.m. Each slide is an entry into a draw for a gift card. As well, the homeroom with the greatest student participation will receive a class treat. During the next few weeks, the student slides will be displayed on the TV’s in the Commons.
c) Book Spine Poetry Contest 
      Book spine poetry is a free verse poem that is composed by using the titles written on the spines of books and stacking the books on top of each other. Come into the library, create a poem with books, take a photo of the books and submit your entry!

HOCKEY REFEREE CLINIC
A clinic will be held on Monday, October 26th at 6:00 p.m. at SIAST Woodland Campus – Academic Center.  There is an on-line pre-course assignment that is to be completed prior to attending the clinic. ADVENTURES IN AGRICULTURE
The program is aimed towards high school students interested in agriculture and all the different sectors it has broadened into, such as business and environmental issues. Students have the opportunity to attend Agribition in Regina from November 26th – November 30th. There they will participate in tours and presentations, be hosted at luncheons and dinners, and attend a rodeo. JOB OPPORTUNITY
Leon’s Prince Albert has a rare opening for part time student. This position is in our warehouse and encompasses all aspects of the warehouse duties. Hours will be Thursday till 9 pm, Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 12-5. It’s very important that the applicant have a valid class 5 driver’s licence and good drivers abstract (available from SGI) . The Prince Albert Wrestling Club has begun! Sessions are Mondays and Wednesday at 6:00 p.m for Elementary school age students and 7:00 p.m. for high school age students, as well as Sundays at 4:00 p.m. Sessions are held at Carlton in the white gym. For more information, please see Ms. Richards.
